Buckles are a low cost method of securing plastic strapping. Metallic buckles can generally withstand greater tensioning by hand, or with a tensioning tool over plastic buckles. Because there is no permanent seal or crimp, the strap can loosen slightly through the buckle. The greatest asset of the buckle system is portability and the ability to re-tension the strap.
